The BioSmart PV-WTC terminal is a biometric scanner that identifies a person by the pattern of the palm veins and a plastic RFID card. It helps to organize access to the office premises and to monitor how employees spend their working time. The terminal will not let anyone but staff into the territory of the enterprise and will let you know if an employee was late for the start of the shift or was regularly absent from the workplace.
In May 2020, Biosmart released a new firmware update for the PV-WTC terminal. The terminal has learned how to independently configure the internal time for NTP servers, has become better at integration with third-party ACSs, and new firmware versions can now be installed via web interface. Here are the main updates.
In the new firmware version, an interface is now available in 7 European languages: English, German, Czech, Polish, Bulgarian, Ukrainian and Russian. In addition, we improved the translations and corrected minor mistakes in them.
Now you can more accurately configure the terminal operating mode in accordance with the needs of the customer.
– New setting is now available: the terminal in the “card + palm” mode may not check the biometrics if the employee is identified by the card, but the biometric templates are not in the database.
– Bypass mode for unknown cards is now available. If the identification of an employee by the card has failed, the terminal can transfer the card ID to a third-party ACS via the Wiegand interface. This mode can be quite useful in conditions when the terminal is integrated into any other ACS.
The new version of the firmware significantly expanded the functionality of the web interface of the terminal. Now, through the web interface, the administrator will be able to:
– configure the language of the terminal interface;
– update firmware;
– unload system logs.
The new features will be highly appreciated by partners, at the facilities of which the terminals are used autonomously, with no connection to the Biosmart-Studio software.
Terminal System Settings
The new firmware version implements time synchronization with NTP servers. If you enable this option, the terminal will independently synchronize its internal clock with the exact time servers, even when it works autonomously, with no connection to the Biosmart-Studio software.
Another innovation is that if a network settings change cause an error, the terminal returns to the previous settings, and is not reset to the default settings.
In 11.5.20 firmware, the terminal integration with third-party access control systems is improved. Now the device is even more reliable and understands the commands of third-party systems much better.
In addition, the process of exchanging data with the authentication server has been improved. Now, during identification, the employee’s photo is always displayed on the terminal’s screen.
