Open Supervised Device Protocol (OSDP) allows establishing safe and protected connection between devices of different manufacturers. Among the main features of this protocol are bi-directional communication, read/write capabilities and AES-128 encryption.
One of the main advantages of OSDP is an increase of interoperability for different devices. OSDP implementation allows using third-party equipment, such as smart-card readers in BioSmart security management system:

BioSmart devices can also be used as biometric readers in existing access control system:

Connections are made using standard RS-485 connector. OSDP is already implemented in BioSmart PV-WTC terminal, and for other BioSmart devices this feature will be provided in nearest future.
